Kassandra Mestemaker

I live and create in Denver, Colorado where I am continuously inspired by the Rocky Mountains. Born and raised outside of Columbus, Ohio, I have loved getting my hands messy and my clothes covered in paint ever since I was little. I am a BFA graduate from Ohio State University, and hold an MA in Arts and Culture Management with a focus on Community Outreach and Advocacy from the University of Denver. Working and volunteering around Denver for the past few years has revealed a creative community as vibrant and inviting as my work.

Inspired by the Western landscape, light, and movement I create bright, colorful compositions rich with detail that invite viewers to experience my love for the landscape, and lately animals too. My works are primarily acrylic with some mixed media worked in for texture and complexity. No matter the subject, I strive to portray a degree of playfulness in every piece, balanced by a combination of realism and abstraction.
